PDF Rotator

Choose a PDF, pick the angle and, if you like, the pages to rotate. The tool turns the pages and gives you a new PDF to download.

What is pdf rotator?

A scanned document often comes out sideways or upside down. Rotating the pages fixes the view so that it reads correctly on every device.

You can rotate the whole file or only the pages you list, such as 2 to 4, 7.

How to use the pdf rotator

  1. Choose your PDF.
  2. Pick the angle and optionally the pages.
  3. Press Rotate PDF and download the result.

How the pdf rotator works

Each chosen page has its rotation value increased by the angle you select, modulo 360. The page content is not changed or recompressed. The work is done in your browser with the open source pdf lib library.

Worked example

A 10 page scan where pages 3 and 4 are sideways can be fixed by entering 3 to 4 and rotating 90 degrees.

Common uses of the pdf rotator

  • Fixing sideways scans.
  • Preparing documents for printing.
  • Cleaning phone scanned files.
  • Submitting forms that must be upright.
  • Combining mixed orientation pages.

Tips and common mistakes

Use 270 to turn pages counterclockwise by a quarter turn.

Keep a copy of the original file in case you want to start again.

Background: what to know before you rely on it

A PDF page stores a rotation value of 0, 90, 180 or 270 degrees that viewers apply when they draw the page. Changing this value is a lossless operation because the text, images and fonts are not touched. This is different from rotating an image in a photo editor, which can recompress pixels. Because the file never leaves your device, the tool is also suitable for contracts and personal documents.

Private, free and fast

This tool runs entirely in your browser. What you type or choose is not uploaded to a server and is not saved after you close the page, which keeps it fast and private. It is free to use as often as you like. See more in all pdf and media tools, or browse the full list of tools.
