About these PDF or media tools
Large files are a daily annoyance. A form rejects a PDF over a size limit, an email bounces because a video is too big, and a scan arrives as five separate files. These tools solve those jobs in your browser, so the files never leave your device and there is no waiting for an upload.
The PDF tools use trusted libraries that are hosted on this site, not on a third party server. The video and audio compressor use your browser's own recorder, so they work without any plugin. They process the file at its normal playing speed, so a ten minute clip takes about ten minutes.
What each tool does
- PDF Merger: Choose two or more PDF files and the tool joins them into one PDF in the order you picked. Everything happens in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
- PDF Splitter and Page Extractor: Choose a PDF and enter the pages you want to keep, for example 1 to 3 and 5. The tool saves those pages as a new PDF.
- PDF Compressor: Choose a PDF and a quality level. The tool rebuilds each page as a compressed image and shows how much smaller the file is. Best for scans and photo PDFs.
- PDF to JPG Converter: Choose a PDF and a resolution. Each page is converted to a JPG image that you can preview and download. Up to 30 pages per run.
- Images to PDF Converter: Choose several images and the tool puts each on its own page in one PDF. Choose original size pages or A4 pages. Nothing is uploaded.
- Video Compressor: Choose a video, a resolution and a quality level. Your browser re encodes the video and gives a smaller file. It takes about as long as the video plays.
- Audio Compressor: Choose an audio file and a bitrate. Your browser re encodes it and gives a smaller file. It takes about as long as the audio plays.
- PDF Rotator: Choose a PDF, pick the angle and, if you like, the pages to rotate. The tool turns the pages and gives you a new PDF to download.
- PDF Page Number Adder: Choose a PDF, pick where numbers appear and the first number. The tool stamps a page number at the bottom of every page and saves a new PDF.
How to choose the right tool
Use the PDF merger to combine files in the order you pick, and the PDF splitter to keep only the pages you need. Use the PDF compressor for scans and photo heavy files, and note that it turns pages into pictures. Use PDF to JPG when you need page images, and images to PDF when you need one file from many photos.
For video and audio, choose a lower quality only as far as you need. Most social platforms accept 720p video at moderate bitrates, and speech sounds fine at 64 kbps.
Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded?
No. PDF, video and audio processing happens in your browser.
Why is video compression slow?
The browser re encodes the video while it plays, so it takes about as long as the video itself.
Does the PDF compressor keep selectable text?
No. It rebuilds pages as images, which is best for scans. Text based PDFs are often already small.
Which browser is best?
A current version of Chrome or Edge on a computer works best for video and audio.
