What is domain availability checker?
After you create name ideas, the next question is which ones are free. This tool checks a list of domains in one step using public DNS.
A domain with name servers is certainly registered. A domain with no DNS record is likely unregistered, but not always, so treat Likely available as a hint and confirm at a registrar.
How to use the domain availability checker
- Paste up to 12 domain names, one per line.
- Press Check domains.
- Confirm the promising ones at a registrar before you buy.
How the domain availability checker works
For each domain, the tool asks Google Public DNS for its name server records. A non existent domain answer means likely available. An answer with name servers means registered.

A registered domain with no website may still be for sale. Check the registrar or a broker.
Background: what to know before you rely on it
A domain name can be registered and still have no DNS records, for example when it was just bought and not yet pointed anywhere, or when the owner parked it without name servers. For that reason a DNS check can only say that a name is probably free. Registrars and the registry database, known as RDAP or WHOIS, give the final answer. When you find a good name, register it quickly, because names that appear free are often being watched by people who buy them first. Check trademarks and social handles too.
Private, free and fast
This tool sends the domain name you type to Google Public DNS to read its records. Nothing else is sent, and we do not store the domain. It is free to use as often as you like. See more in all name and id generators, or browse the full list of tools.
